I liked the Willy Wonka movie a lot less than Sweeney Todd. And I'm with you on Edward Scissorhands and Pirates of the Caribbean, and also love Depp in Cry-Baby, Dead Man, The Ninth Gate, Ed Wood, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Sleepy Hollow. That's a great career right there, and he's still pretty young.

Another part of my problem with his performance in Sweeney Todd is that he recognizably recycles tics he's used effectively in previous movies. Maybe I'm just becoming too familiar with his technique!
