Shortly after you were diagnosed with GBM, you mentioned that retaining your ability to write was vitally important to you. With this note I confirm that, oh, Ghod, yes, you've totally still got that. This piece is hitting me as strongly as "Travels with the Wild Child" did, and, in these first moments after reading it for the first time, it feels even stronger than that. Open, honest, insightful, presenting the complex, full-spectrum emotional mix of the situation.

The "Old Friends" photo...I haven't the words to describe what it did to my heart when I first looked at it, what it's already doing to my heart when I just think of it, but I assure you that it's good. In a sense of having a full-spectrum understanding of everything behind it sort of way. Which I of course don't have, but it's a heck of a lot more full-spectrum now than it was before reading "Blame Canada."
