Another word I don't like

Bromance.

I kind of just don't like the cutesiness of the word itself, but it's probably the concept that bugs me even more. It's two dudes, and they, like, love each other. Whoa! Kinda cute, and kinda awkward.

I dunno. It seems smug and narcissistic adolescent to me. Am I just getting old and cranky? I really don't like those ear stretchers that bohemian guys are wearing these days either. They just look ugly to me. Perhaps my worst nightmare right now is a bromance about two twenty-something dudes with ear stretchers. On a staycation together.

Where did I put my bermudas? And my best buds?

Bohemian earstretchers?

Clearly I need to get over to the city more.

Yeah, I've never really dug the ear-stretchers look, either, at least not as they get absurdly large. I mean, it's their ears and all but I kinda just roll my eyes and wonder if that choice won't limit their career options later. Unlike even most tattoos, it's kinda hard to cover them with clothes if you apply for a banking job later.

But I have definitely seen them on women as well as men. One of our favorite waitresses at Wild Wheat in Kent has them. We're pretty happenin' down in Kent.

And yeah, bromance and staycation are ugly-ass neologisms. Then again, I think that scientifiction is an ugly-ass paleologism.

You're the second person on my list tonight to ask if they're just old and cranky. I think we probably are and we might as well get on with it..

My latest hate was asking when I was buying a rail ticket what would happen if I went back via London (dearer route) and her saying "oh you'll have to excess it!" Je-sus..

Not mad on the term, but happy to live with the reality. I have male friends I care for at that level, and I'm grateful I do.

Only a minute to pop in between maniacal painting projects, but YOU CRACK ME UP. I can't bring myself to get out to any of the freaking bromance movies. I am, however, going to Bruno!

I'm clearly not cool enough for you.

I was assuming that bromance was invented by the gnomes over at Hollywood to describe the new style of buddy flicks various male directors are making because said directors are getting older and don't relate to being 19 any more. At least that's the only context in which I've heard it discussed.
