Politics

If there's anything more dreary than the results of Tuesday's elections, it's all the useless pundits, of all persuasions, grinding their axes in the aftermath. Good thing I'm heading out to the peninsula next week, where I will listen to the ocean for a while.

I am devoutly glad that I had just boarded a small ship for a week of poking around the Alaskan archipelagan wilderness when Ronald Reagan died. I missed the entirety of the maudlin mourning of that divisive figure.

Yes, that sounds lovely.

I like to give people (including myself) two days to groan & kvetch, but the results were just about as expected and now it's time to return to the Real World and start working on the 2016 election. (My preferance is to collect quotes from the most stupid of the conservatives (including some Democrats, I regret to say) to cite when the time comes. But actually I'm going to be spending much of the time I might be devoting to Politics to reading and to working in the garden (though not near mid-day with the temperature nudging 90... in November!

One of the reasons I first got a computer (in the late '80s, IIRC) was that they were reported to have software/word-processor Programs that required the user who typed "(" to insert a ")" somewhere following it before saving the document. They did things so much better back in The Old Days... but excuse me now; I have to find my cane and chase those dad-burned kids off my lawn.

Wow, I thought we were balmy with our forecast high of 60 today. As it turns out, my plans just got changed, and I'll be driving my parents to SoCal this weekend, so I might get some of that hot weather you're having if it stays that way. (I'll try to bring some of this rain with me, too.)

Please do bring some rain. We had a bit a week or so ago -- enough for annuals, but not enough to sink in deep enough for perennials.

And yes, listening to the ocean is always A Good Thing.
