Elliott Bay Book Co. moving to Capitol Hill

I'm guessing that most locals will have heard this news already, but there may be a few out-of-towners who would be interested: Elliott Bay Book Co. moving to Capitol Hill. The new location is between Pike and Pine on 10th, just a block off Broadway. The interesting tidbit in this story is that they didn't move because of rent, but because of a fall-off in business, which they attribute to their location. With Bailey-Coy just going out of business on Capitol Hill, I wonder whether this move will really help on that front.

Sounds like they managed to find the one place that has even worse parking than Pioneer Square.

They claim there are 75 parking spots available to them, and thus an improvement over the Pioneer Square location. Must be underground? I'm really not clear where they would be, but it's an old garage.

It's just around the corner from the Century Ballroom (and thus the fannish angle, the Century being the site of Jack and Anita's wedding).

Bailey/Coy was on Broadway, as you know, Bob. The new location on 10th is considered to be part of the Pike/Pine amalgamation, which is thought to be on the way up.

I guess the question is whether location is the problem or whether the internet is the problem. I guess we'll find out. Unless yet a third thing is the problem. Or there is no problem, and sha na na na bop shoo-wop shoo-wop.

*surprise* well, thanks for letting us know. It's relevant to me, because I make a beeline there on every visit, but if it weren't for your kindness in passing this on, I'd never hear about it.

As the move will be right around Potlatch-time, I hope we'll be kept informed as to the latest news. 'cause I'll probably forget to check.

I thought this might be of interest to you. I'll try to remember to post about this again when they actually move, but I'll also try to remember to mention to Luke that they might want to include something about it in the Potlatch program book or PRs.
