I've only seen JPEGs from 40 Days in the Desert on the internet, but it looks utterly fascinating. Image after wordless image of surreal situations in the desert. Sorry! But yeah, there's lots of whole stories there, and stuff that's practically impossible to get your hands on otherwise, plus all kinds of other interesting stuff, such as homages to Moebius by other artists.

It looks like a bookseller in Florence, Italy has a copy of the book for $60 plus shipping at ABEbooks here. My Italian isn't great, but I think that's what it is.

Yep, that looks to be it. Interesting that the subtitle seems to be something along the lines of "or the strategy of madness".
