And it's off
Jan. 7th, 2006 10:51 amAssuming that carl and Scott successfully delivered them to the post office last night, copies of Chunga 11 should be wending their way toward various mailboxes today (unless you are a local yokel, in which case you'll get yours at Vanguard tonight or the pubmeet tomorrow). It took us six months to put this one together, and we still managed to commit at least one major bone-headed mistake (a series of pictures without captions identifying the people). Thus I about fell over laughing when carl pointed out that he had put "Uncorrected Edition" at the bottom of the colophon page. This is a backformation from calling the PDF that we post at efanzines.com the Corrected Edition, since we always find and fix a few errors between the time we print the zine and the time we post the PDF.
It's good to be done with this, as it was really beginning to feel stale. We also had to get slightly old school last night when the printshop was unable to handle the stapling, so I actually stapled 280 copies by hand. Brought back memories of collation parties for Mainstream, you young whippersnapper. I've come to really enjoy the mailing part of the fanzine process, both because it brings a sense of completion and accomplishment and because it's a way of interacting with the mailing list. Every mailing is a like a little convention, because putting a label on an envelope is like bumping into an old friend in a hotel lobby. Long time no see! Wanna copy of my zine?
