Further projects of the HPLHS
Nov. 1st, 2006 10:54 pmCinema Strikes Back has an excellent interview with Sean Branney, one of the co-creators of the excellent silent movie adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu that came out on DVD last year. (I thought the movie was Hugo-worthy, personally, but it didn't make the ballot and would no doubt have lost to Dr. Who anyway.) Branney says that their next Lovecraft adaptation will be "The Whisperer in the Darkness," which they plan to start shooting next year. I don't recall the story, so I'm ambivalent about this news, but after that, they are looking at doing an animated version of The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. Now that I'd love to see!
(I'm aware of the existing "animated" version, which consists of filming the still panels of a comic book adaptation of the story. I thought it was horrible and didn't even finish watching it.)
