Last night was Japanese Baseball Night at beautiful Safeco Field here in Seattle. Appropriately enough, the Mariners' two Japanese players, Ichiro Suzuki and Kenji Johjima, apparently both had good games. Regarding the theme night, mariners.com reports:

There were pregame festivities with drums, music and dancers dressed in colorful outfits.

"I wasn't here, so I didn't get to see any of the performances," Ichiro said, "but when I saw a small clip of it on the TV, I noticed that they were playing Chinese music, so it made me think they didn't comprehend Japan."

Flint's "The Queen of Life" ends up being a very strange story. I had to read it twice to try to get it straight in my head, but I'm still not sure I understand all the strange twists and contortions. While on the face of it this is a fairly commonplace utopia, lurking beneath its placid, generic surface is an ambiguous battle of the sexes.

What the big idea, wise guy? -- SPOILERS, ho! )
