Well, the Mariners have finished their season at 88 - 74. They were a much better team this year than last, despite weak starting pitching. I missed almost all of the last game yesterday, but I tuned in in time to see Felix Hernandez get two outs in the ninth and then cede the game to JJ Putz, so that JJ could get his 40th save. Felix didn't need saving. He looked every inch the dominant pitcher we're all waiting for him to become, clearly enjoying himself and the standing ovation he got as he walked off the field. He's one of the keys to this team making the playoffs. If he steps it up another notch, and they find one more good arm somewhere, look out for this team next year. I'm already looking forward to it!

Meanwhile, I guess I'll root for the Cubs in the playoffs. Go, Lou!
