Interviewed

Thanks to wrdnrd, I've just been interviewed by the editor of University Week about the Science-Fiction Five-Yearly Hugo. UWeek is a university (not a student) newspaper. I did my best to explain fandom, fanzines, conventions, Hugos, the history of SFFY, Lee Hoffman, and ghu knows what else. I'm so adrenalated I can hardly sit still. She'll send me a copy of what she writes before anything is published. She also wants to arrange a photograph of me with a copy of the zine. They did a great job on a recent profile of another UW employee, Neile Graham -- a poet who also has connections to the local SF community -- so I'm hopeful that she'll turn my gibbering into something sensible.

Jeebus, I don't think I needed this cup of coffee. I'm on the ceiling already. Help me, mommy! I can't get down!

Happy birthday, Arthur Widner Jr! Late as it may be, I drink a shot of 90-year-old whiskey for YHOS. Please kiss Ian for me, since no one else will. The rest of yiz can go kissless. Probably not shotless, I reckon. Cheers, Ditto -- and ditto cheers! And other incoherent noises. Hope the kisses are more coherent.

Slightly coherent update: Lest the unsuspecting should be misled, I'll note that while Ditto/Artcon is in major part a celebration of R. Twidner turning 90, his birthday was actually in September, somewhere around the same time as mine. That said, please carry on conveying your happiness at his birth; it certainly made the world a better place.
