This is the second volume in a series of Brackett reprints from Haffner Press, following Martian Quest: Early Leigh Brackett. It picks up in chronological order of publication where Marian Quest left off and gets into Brackett in her early prime. I've read a number of these stories already in Orion's collection of Brackett's stories, Sea-Kings of Mars and Otherworldly Stories. "Lorelei of the Red Mists" (co-written by Ray Bradbury) and "The Moon That Vanished" are easily amongst her greatest, and I look forward to seeing what else she was up to in this era, covering more of the '40s, many of the 12 stories published in Planet Stories or Thrilling Wonder Stories. Exotic, sexy adventures on Mars and Venus and Ganymede, in the days when the solar system was full of rough taverns, ruined cities, and hard-boiled dames -- and broken men -- with harsh secrets in their past. Pulp fiction at its finest. Thank you, Haffner Press! Keep 'em coming!
