Beer recommendation
Mar. 8th, 2008 12:56 pmFor a limited time only, Bottleworks has a small and quickly shrinking supply of Full Sail's Top Sail Imperial Porter that has been aged in a bourbon barrel. The undercapitalized co-editor and I split a bottle last night, and it was epic -- a veritable symphony of powerful flavors working in harmony.
kate_schaefer, I think you and Glenn would love this beer as fans of Old Rasputin. It's $9.99 for a 22 oz. bottle, so not cheap, but well worth it. I'm not sure where else it's available, but the supply at Bottleworks really is going fast. It's behind the counter, because they are limiting people to two bottles apiece. I just got a second bottle to set aside for a special occasion.
While I'm on the subject of beer, I should mention that Snoqualmie's Spring Fever Grand Cru has been out for a while and is just as good as ever. I've had at least a half dozen bottles of it so far, and I'm also putting a bottle aside for later in the year, although from what I've read really hoppy beers lose their hoppiness as they age. I'm not necessarily a fan of strongly hopped beers, but I love the floral flavor of the Spring Fever on top of that big grand cru body. A towering beer for crocus season, and bring on the daffodils while you're at it.
