The squeeky heel gets the helium
Jun. 8th, 2008 03:12 pmSomebody must have heard my complaint yesterday, because today we have sunshine. I spent another three hours weeding the traffic circle this afternoon. Made great progress, and lo and behold, who should drive by but Marissa N., whom I hadn't seen in years. We chatted for a bit and agreed to get together for coffee soon. Ron, I'll send more details when I get a chance, but the big news is that she's getting married next year, to a childhood chum.
The ceanothus hedge out front is in full bloom, and thus it's full of bumblebees. Yesterday a middle-aged couple stopped to admire it, and the man took some photos. When I came up the hill with my barrel full of weeds, he asked me, in a foreign accent of some kind, what the name of the plant was. "It's very beautiful," he said. The woman was sticking her nose into the fragrant blossoms. "It smells beautiful too," she said, with the same accent. We all smiled at each other, breathed the scented air, and listened to the bees hum.
Pubmeet later today, if I'm not mistaken. But first I'm going to see if the tamale stand is at the Fremont Sunday Market today. A couple of weeks ago I had a chicken chipotle tamale with black beans that was to die for.
So what's everybody else up to?
