I picked the first raspberries of the year this morning. They were a little later than usual because of the cold weather earlier this month. I'm eating some on granola now. Heavenly!
Also, how is that I had never heard the eponymous album by The Velvet Underground before now? I've been a huge fan of their first album, with Nico, and their fourth album, Loaded, since college days, but although I've heard several of the "greatest hits" from this album ("Candy Says", "Pale Blue Eyes", "Beginning to See the Light"), I'd never heard the whole thing until I bought a copy on Friday. It's fucking brilliant! It also makes clear some more inheritances, including guitar sounds that Eno developed later, plus the simultaneous spoken vocal tracks that Gang of Four used in "Anthrax". This may well be VU's best overall album. (I've never been a big fan of White Light/White Heat, which is too noisy for my taste.) Wait, did Maureen Tucker really just sing, "Shaving my head may be bolder"?!
