Pub quiz "league" play wrap-up
Oct. 7th, 2008 08:00 amStill Scared of the Yellow Ball in the Sky finished third last night, and Shut Up in the Back finished first, leap-frogging over us to take first in "league" play as well. I went into the final match anticipating that we would either win the "league" outright or at worst finish tied for first, so despite the literal triviality of it all my high was kinda bummed. Maybe it was the fault of the rain clouds covering the yellow ball in the sky yesterday. It made our fear irrational.
It's worth noting that Shut Up in the Back and our team were the only ones to play all ten matches in league play. There were two other teams that played nine, and that left them with almost no chance to catch either of us. Other than those four teams, there weren't any that played more than three or four matches, as I recall. Such is the "league".
We got a $100 gift certificate, while the winners got a $250 gift certificate. League play starts again on 20 October. We're trying to think of a shorter name for our team, because Still Scared of the Yellow Ball in the Sky is a lot of writing every round, day in, day out, scribble, scribble, scribble. Perhaps Caribou Barbie.
