Still coughing my lungs up. The doctor on Wednesday said he thought it was the flu, which has been spreading again in a late-season campaign back East. We flew through Newark on the way down to the Dominican Republic, and through Philadelphia on the way back. However, I was already feeling what turned out to be the first symptoms on the flight to Philly, so I assume I'd caught it by then. Perhaps on the bus to and from the snorkeling/diving trip the day before. Perhaps from the nightmare birthday party (all of them from Philly) the first day we arrived.
I can't remember the last time I had such a bad cough. Possibly at the end of my TAFF trip in 2003, when I totally destroyed myself at the Eastercon (coup de grĂ¢ce delivered by
reverendjim and
tregenza in the wee hours of the end times), got sick and coughed my lungs out while resting at
julia_winolj's parents' house for two days, then went to the Madison Corflu and coughed my lungs out that whole long weekend while missing half the fun. Not a happy experience, although at least that time I had the excitement to keep me halfway lifted.
I'm tempted to blame Corflu Zed for running my immune system down this time, but who knows. I'd have thought that a vacation in the tropics would have been enough down time to recover. Feh.
