Wait, some of you are! Just checking in briefly before Sharee and I move to the Delta Centre-Ville and enter convention mode. Montreal has been absolutely cracker so far. We especially like Rue Saint-Denis, which is full of cool bars and restaurants. There's plenty of good beer to be had around here, but less cider (by far) than Sharee was hoping for.

Yesterday we lollygagged for a while in the (gay) Village, then met up with [livejournal.com profile] ron_drummond at the YWCA hotel where we've been staying until now. Ate Indian food with Ron on Saint-Denis, then had beer and cider at Saint Bock, which is a brewpub that also carries other local microbrews. Ron was exhausted from his travels and went back to the Y, but we stayed because Sharee wanted to check out a goth club called Passeport. While we finished our drinks, we spotted Robin, a local woman that Sharee connected with via the social networking group Couch Surfers. Robin was going home from seeing Social Distortion. She had a drink with us and gave us more of the goods on Montreal. (We had spent much of Tuesday with her.)

Sharee and I had a drink at Passeport after that, watching all the young goths in their finery. (She reckoned they weren't as fine as in Brisbane.) Sharee was fairly well decked out as well, and I had reshaved the side of her head earlier. Back to Rue Crescent, where the Y is, we stopped in at Brutopia, which is another local brewpub. A singer-songwriter from Wisconsin was doing his Dylan thing, and we stayed for his set after briefly checking the upstairs bar (Crobar) where some kind of Quebecois white funk rap band was playing.

This is a fun town. Next up, the Floating World.
