Twisted rib?
May. 24th, 2010 08:16 amSo I've been having problems with stiffness and soreness in my upper back and shoulders the past few weeks that often have seemed to be the product of sleeping heavily in awkward positions. Then a couple of days ago I started feeling more of a sharp pain in the muscles under my left shoulder blade. Yesterday I went down to the Fremont Sunday Market and found a guy doing chair massages and had him work my back over for 20 minutes. He said I had a twisted rib, and he really worked my spine and rib joints. It felt great! It was a real relief. However, by the time I went to bed last night I was already feeling the pain again, and it's still there, perhaps worse, this morning.
So has anybody heard of "twisted rib" before? And if so, is there anything to do for it other than massage? The guy at the market said that the tension in my lower back was the real problem, and that the pain higher up was disguising it. "It's sort of like hitting your thumb with a hammer so you don't notice your headache anymore."
Of course because of an upcoming digit change in my age, in the back of my mind I'm thinking: you're getting old!
