I got some preliminary work done on Way 2 yesterday. I collected the most interesting posts from this LJ from December through June. For the first issue, I culled from August 2005 through November 2006, so the material this time seems sparser. On the other hand, the second issue will have a lettercol, so I don't need as much material of my own.

Yesterday was also the Fans with Bheer pubmeet. A good crowd showed up, including some folks who don't normally come and at least one visitor from afar, Martin Morse Wooster. I got a fair amount of petting for having received a Hugo, which was nice. It was particularly sweet to get congrats from Elinor Busby, who I believe has the only other Hugo for Best Fanzine in Seattle, for Cry of the Nameless in 1960, although I suppose, come to think of it, that Wally Webber has one too, for the same zine. It was also great to get a fist of approval from Mr. Hooper, who reminisced about other Hugo-winning fanzines he's been published in and thus was, weirdly enough, the second person at the pubmeet yesterday to mention Lan's Lantern. Perhaps the punchline to all the congratulations was this Quote of the Day from Ray Bradbury this morning: "You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance." So maybe I should take Craig Smith up on his offer of $5.95 for the Ultraman figure.

[livejournal.com profile] svtompkins handed out a TAFF newsletter with the lovely new TAFF logo in full color. You all know that there's a TAFF race on, right? Please vote! I'll be voting for [livejournal.com profile] johnnyeponymous myself.

In the midst of all this, I was informed obliquely that one difficult outstanding matter has been resolved, or at least decided, and it leaves me feeling sad even though it was the resolution I wanted. However, that is news for another day, since there's still one shoe left to drop.

On happier fronts, [livejournal.com profile] akirlu was at one point trying to remember what the guy who put the stent in [livejournal.com profile] libertango's heart was called.

"A stentologist?" I suggested.

"No," said [livejournal.com profile] jerrykaufman, who claims his witticisms never make it into fannish reports, "I believe it's called a stentorian."
