Our minister for Climate Change is a relatively young woman who is both asian born and gay, as well. Its really rather a dramatic turn around in our international image, downright whiplash inducing in the climate change area.

Well, I've got administration envy at this point. It'll be fascinating to see how it all goes.

It might not be such a bad idea as I was just reading that the various US presidential candidates are at best only marginally better than the present incumbent.

I wouldn't go that far. I think that, for example, almost any of the Democratic candidates would be a vast improvement over Dubya, at least in terms of domestic policy. The problem is that our political system is so deeply fucked at the moment that it's not clear that a better president is going to make much of a difference.

When a nutbag like Obama can spout crap like “rogue nations,” “hostile dictators,” “muscular alliances”, maintaining “a strong nuclear deterrent”, needing to “seize” the “American moment” it's pretty clear this is bush rhetoric all over again. And apparently Obama wants a larger army so the US can fight two wars and still be able to defend the “homeland”. He sounds like s psychotic proto-Fueher to me. Especially with ominous statements such as "No President should ever hesitate to use force – unilaterally if necessary – to protect ourselves and our vital interests when we are attacked or imminently threatened." So, pretty much the sort of logic Bush used to justify invading Iraq. Scumbags like Obama and Clinton are just marginally better than the present incumbent I'm afraid.
