Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw for an enjoyable dinner at Szechuan Bistro last night. (It was also great to see [livejournal.com profile] janeehawkins briefly, as she hung out with a couple of kid friends watching anime.) Luke gave me the goods on what's going on in his life, with a mixture of very sad news (about [livejournal.com profile] juliebata's brother) and incredibly great news (about another friend's health -- but it hasn't been generally announced yet, so I guess I'm mum). He also loaned me the The Work of Director Michel Gondry DVD, which collects the music videos made by the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (songs by Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Cibo Matto, Kylie Minogue, and others), and he also loaned me a DVD of Devo music videos. Whip it good! I returned the Brooklyn Funk Essentials CDs he had previously loaned me (great stuff!), and loaned him the DVD of Blueberry (a.k.a., Renegade).

Other than that, yesterday I wrote a few last minute replies for the Chunga 11 lettercol and did some more proofreading (it's "Barsoom," not "Barroom"!) A couple days earlier, my proofreading confidence was shaken when my belief that the possessive form of the personal pronoun "one" is "ones" turned out to be wrong, wrong, wrong (that is, three people disagreed with me): it's "one's". I blame James Joyce for my misbelief. But you just have to be strong and get right back on that horse and keep riding it into the ground.

Today I am in theory having lunch with [livejournal.com profile] akirlu, for more gossip, larfs, and tears. Maybe last minute work on Chunga tonight, although if all goes as planned it will be ready for the printshop tomorrow. Then maybe I can finally get to the North American distribution of Floss 5. And then what? Maybe finish that ghu-damned TAFF report? Argh, no, yes, argh!

I'm glad to hear that your sleep wasn't as messed up as mine was last night. I'm just waking up! Fooeie.

Was it from the tea? I think I was exhausted from staying up late the night before and from the continuing (although diminishing) effects of the cold. I slept like a log last night. Blissful!

I've posted to my journal and weblog, so this isn't a secret. I guess it never was, but I didn't have time to post until today.

Well, I wasn't sure, but Luke said something about wanting to wait until you announced it before he said anything. In any event, this is just terrific news, Anita. One of the great things about seeing Jane briefly the other night was the grin she got on her face when she told me about scribbling "dramatic" every time the doctor said it. Ha! Hope the tests in two months continue the good word.
