I'm pleased to announce that we have settled the details for Corflu Zed, the 26th Corflu, which will be held in Seattle on the weekend of 13-15 March 2009. Please feel free to repost this announcement far and wide.

The convention hotel is the Hotel Deca, which is located in the University District. This is a lovely old art deco hotel that was built in 1931, around the same time that the first fanzines were being published. The consuite will be on the top floor of the building, with wonderful panoramic views of the city. The University District offers many restaurants and urban amenities within walking distance of the hotel. This is just across the freeway from where the previous two Seattle Corflus were held.

Are you coming out for Potlatch, too?

That's a big Yes.

So, finding someplace to convalesce in between is going to be one of the next challenges. Ya know, visiting is not the most restful occupation, but I'm not sure I want to do hotels the whole time either. Or maybe I do...

Um, what about fans who smoke? I checked with the hotel and they indicated they have no smoking rooms. One is allowed to smoke 13 feet from the hotel. I know that P's not the only fan that smokes. Oh, no pets allowed also. Anyway, this puts a wrinkle on whether or not we will be able to make it.

Yeah, it's a problem for people who smoke. FWIW, we have the entire top floor for the consuite, which includes an outdoor terrace. Technically smoking is not allowed on the terrace, but nobody's going to complain, because we have all three suites on the terrace. As long as you don't leave butts lying around, you can smoke out there. But if you want to be able to smoke in your room, there's not much we can do to accommodate that. It's a pain, I know.
