My new computer has a DVD/CD burner, so for the first time in a decade or more I'll be able to make music compilations. Of course, lately it seems like I've mostly been listening to compilations that other people have burned for me, so I guess I'll be making compilations of compilations. On the other hand, I keep thinking we're in a post-CD era and we should just be emailing songs to each other to put on our iPods. But I don't have an iPod yet ...

I love comps

Whenever I make plans to drive anywhere, like down to Vegas to visit folks or up to Seattle for a con, I always make one comp disc for each hour of driving one way, so I only have to listen to each disc once.
I've got about 20 discs from trips all over the place that I still listen to.

Excellent idea! Somewhere I have a case of old tapes that I used for the same purpose Back In The Day. You know, I should just throw those away, I guess. But they accrued so many memories!

I must admit I do like my iPod - even though iTunes itself is a detestable piece of software.

I am looking forward to all cars having a standard audio line-in socket for MP3 players which will make life easier for all of us.

I'm back over the first weekend in March if you fancy doing something.

carl tells me that iPods can play MP3s, but I guess you lose the iTunes interface then. Dunno what it would look like.
