Dinner with His Holiness

Had dinner last night with holyoutlaw. We met at May, which is a newish Thai restaurant in Wallingford, with a terrific burnished metal facade and a large statue of Buddha out front. The interior decor is very woody and elegant. The food, however, wasn't really worth the price. But it was fun to gossip with Luke about our girlfriends, and about photography, fandom, and French riots (which reminded Luke of the Chicago riots of his youth, when tanks rolled in the streets). The putative reason for the get-together was so that he could pass along three CDs by the Brooklyn Funk Essentials, whom I became interested in due to one of ceiliog's loops. So now I have a bunch of new music to listen to. Not sure what Luke got out of it!
