So much and no more
Jun. 7th, 2009 10:05 amGot lots done yesterday. Sent in my Hugo ballot, for one thing, and also reserved a hotel room for the Worldcon. Did some editorial work for Chunga. Mowed the lawn, which was looking a bit jungly after three weeks of neglect. It was great to get out into the garden for a couple of hours. Everything's looking so healthy right now -- at least now that I've cleared out the hebe that was killed in the winter cold snap.
After doing all that, I treated myself to a dinner of fish and chips and Trumer Pils at the Pacific Inn. Then it was off to Andy and Carrie's for Vanguard. Felt like it had been a while since I'd seen folks; felt like I needed to see folks, reconnect with my community, bask in the camaraderie. Didn't feel like old times though. Vanguard is a shadow of itself, there's no doubt about it, but it was good to be with my punning peoples for a few hours.
Earlier I received a set of photos from my brother via e-mail. These were the family portraits he took on Mothers Day. As I told somebody at Vanguard last night, I looked at the one of my dad and thought, "Man, he looks old!" Then I looked at the one of me and saw all the wrinkles in my forehead and around my eyes. They aren't visible in the userpic version, but it still captures how I look these days. Wish I could make this my default without changing the past. Curse you, LiveJournal!
