Boy, I'm really kicking myself now for not visiting my sister in China! And nothing in Africa?! Well, no plans to commit further sectors to red at this point. But how many of you can say you've been to Guam, let alone the Federated States of Micronesia? (You can put your hand down, [livejournal.com profile] n6tqs.)

Update: [livejournal.com profile] alces2 found a map with more detail:

Gee, it looks like you've been a lot more places than I have been. Nope, I haven't been to Guam or the Federated States of Micronesia. Maybe one of these days.

My parents' map would have a lot more than this, and they are in fact responsible for my getting to at least half of these. The only times I've been to Guam have been on the way to the FSM, so I guess they kind of go together for me.

Many FSMs!

It took me a double-take to parse FSM as Federated States of Micronesia, rather than (my first thought) Flying Spaghetti Monster. Which is kind of worrying, in a geeky way.

But who wouldn't want to visit the Flying Spaghetti Monster?! Must call my travel agent immediately ...

Ah, but surely the Flying Spaghetti Monster is more likely to visit you? Not that you'd ever know, as he is invisible, of course.

As soon as I read that, I had the eerie feeling that I'd been touched by a linguine.

You have all the ones I've been to as well as quite a few others.

I assume we overlap in Europe and the Americas.

Mine would be the US, Canada, and Mexico.

My grandmother used to say that she didn't understand why anyone needed to travel to the far corners of the world when there were parts of Oregon they still hadn't seen.

I'm just not a very travel-oriented person, I guess.

Well, I can sort of grok that. My summarised trip report after coming back from New Zealand was "Not quite as pretty as the Lake District — but with added volcanic mud and sulphur smells." Neither of which, you understand, are necessarily plus points.
