Practice makes perfect?

Well, I managed to acquire two Torontoans at the airport yesterday, but I'm not sure anything else went according to plan. The fezzes hadn't come in as promised, so that was a wasted expedition. Then I painstakingly arranged for various scattered early arrivers to meet at the Elysian last night, but when we ourselves got there we found it packed to the rafters with a huge group celebrating something or another. The Hopvine was also full, but we eventually were directed to the Six Arms by Scott K. None of the rest of the farflung crew called me. When I got home a few hours later, I found out why: I had given out my new cellphone number slightly wrong. It's 658 instead of 685.

Well, from the messages on my landline it seems that some of the folks managed to find a table at the Elysian after all. Apologies to anyone who wasn't able to get a hold of me. Then again, so far I've been unable to figure out how to accept a call on my new phone. I push the green button, and the call is cut off. It's chaos, I tell you!

Today I'm losing the Torontoans and acquiring a Virginian, although maybe not in that order. There's an unofficial gathering in the Hotel Deca bar tonight to stuff membership packets and mingle. Feel free to drop by. We have the Governor's Room reserved, so we shouldn't have trouble finding a place to sit. Knock wood.

I still vividly remember Pat Virzi putzing around with this and that, picking up after everybody, generally being all over the place at one time, in Austin two years ago. Try to avoid doing that sort of thing, okay, Randy? Besides, if Pat's there, point some of her energy in a constructive direction, like say, Tacoma...
