I'll be heading to Oregon this evening to spend the long weekend with my family. Happy Independence Day to my fellow Yanks. I'll be back Sunday evening.

Yeah, we'll see. My mom just switched drugs for her diabetes and has been feeling like crap. I'm worried about that. On the other hand, I think my brother and I are going to go hike around an old lava field that's supposed to have some pretty cool formations.

Lava fields! We visited the PNW when I was 13, including a trip to see some cousins in Eugene, and a side trip to a lava field.

I believe the idea is to go to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, which amongst other things has lava tubes.
