Aside from utterly horrific lines at Toronto airport, the return home this morning was uneventful. Watched Galaxy Quest on the plane, which is a pretty damned appropriate movie to watch after a science fiction convention. Still, it had me in tears at times, and I'm not sure that was an appropriate response. Other than that, it's great to be back home. One of the first things I did was to water a plant in the garden. Time to get back into my routine and leave the Floating World behind for now. I'll be back, I'm sure.

Oh, I dunno. I can think of a couple of points during Galaxy Quest when tearing up would be a totally appropriate response. When the nerds save the day using Roman candles, and when the little alien dies and our Grand Thespian finally speaks his signature line with appropriate feeling, hell, even when the chief alien is being tortured, and Tim Allen has to ruin his innocence by explaining that fiction isn't real.

So, uh, text me or something when you're ready to participate in planning the weekend, eh?

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty much like toast at the moment, but hope to have my brain back tomorrow.

Though I did tell Steve at the convention that we were plotting his destruction.

Uh... yeah, I think you got all the ones where I reach for a tissue. Well done.

I agree with akirlu, above.

Our movie was Star Trek (90210 as Kevin called it at the con) - I got a little choked at the moments when there's the first death and when the new "kids" see the Enterprise for the first time.

Watched a bit of that after Galaxy Quest, and yeah, that first death scene is pretty moving, despite being applied with a trowel.
