randy_byersSo I've been posting a lot of movie reviews lately, but there's more to life than that. There's also blind chance.
Yesterday I girded my loins to go to the mall to buy some shirts for work. I needed three shirts to fill the hole in my rotation of work shirts. What the hell, I found four shirts at Macy's that I liked, so I took them all to the cash register, feeling accomplished.
"Did you know there's a buy-one-get-one-free sale on?" the sales clerk asked.
"Uh, no," I confessed. "I'm such a crappy shopper that if I hit a sale, it's by dumb luck."
She laughed. "The sale was actually last weekend, but apparently they didn't take it off. Lucky you. You get two free shirts."
Awesome! What did I do to deserve that? Or is this just something Macy's does to make you feel like you got a good deal and to keep you coming back? Well, it works for me. Positively Pavlovian!
