Shower shavers

One of my concerns about growing my hair out is whether I can keep it trimmed myself without getting hair all over the place. It just occurred to me today that I've heard of electric razors that can be used in the shower, and sure enough some googling got me to this example on offer at Amazon.com. I'm wondering if anybody has experience with such a device (whether for shaving or for trimming) and how that worked out and whether any models can be recommended. It seems as though doing the hair trimming in the shower would solve the problem of hair getting all over the place, but maybe it clogs the drain frequently or causes other problems.

Date: 2010-01-05 12:47 am (UTC)One annoyance with the 7735 is its charging system -- it uses a drop-in charger, and only a drop-in charger. The previous model's charger plugged directly into the razor. This charging system means I have to carry extra stuff around with me if I'm going to be traveling for more than about ten days. (It also wouldn't have worked at all on the train because the razor would certainly have kept falling out of the charger.)
It's certainly easy to keep clean, although they do recommend disassembling the heads and scrubbing them out every couple of months even though you rinse it daily. They heads tend to accumulate a bit of soap scum, so washing them in alcohol and applying razor lubricant is a good idea, and they also suggest replacing the heads annually.
Whew, I didn't realize I'd gone on so long just about electric shower razors, but this one I've thought about a lot. I'm not absolutely convinced that this was a great value, but it does work decently well, and I've grown used to shaving in the shower after five years of using such razors.
