Oh dear, more talk about the weather! After that bout of hot summery days a while back, we've had rain for the past week or two. Not much volume, but enough to make the plants really, really happy. I went for a walk yesterday and could hear the plants thrusting themselves sunward. The new raspberry canes have shot up like mushrooms, and my neighbor's vines have o'ertopped the fence and swarmed my rose. The air is heavy with the perfume of wet, wanton flowers. As we say in Seattle, April showers bring May showers, and then June showers, and before you know it you're eating fresh ripe raspberries. Bring it on!

You know, the ocean is like a vast desert.

Oh yes, the ocean is a desert with it's life underground and a perfect disguise above.

And yet the ocean also takes the piss. All of it, basically.

After riding across the desert on a horse with no name it feels good to be out of the rain. Better then that America's piss ends in the ocean.
