Were these colorized, or were there actual color films in those days?

(I know there was color still filmstock a lot earlier than I thought.)

They were hand-tinted. I'm not sure when the first color filmstock came in for movies. There was a two-strip Technicolor process going back at least as far as the Teens.

Those are way cool! Love the way the Jeanne d'Arc appears so ephemeral.

Yeah, in that shot the color is really subtle. There are other scenes (including the burning at the stake scene) where some of the colors are more vivid.

It's a 10-minute film, which is *really* long for 1900.
