Cat's got my tongue!
Feb. 7th, 2010 09:06 amHer Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
but she doesn't have a lot to say
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
but she changes from day to day
I want to tell her that I love her a lot
But I gotta get a belly full of wine
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
Someday I'm going to make her mine, oh yeah,
Someday I'm going to make her mine.

I like the opera a lot, although I wouldn't say I like it better than Florencia en el Amazonas. Both are utterly gorgeous and rapturous; Rappaccini's Daughter is darker, which fits the story. It looks as though Catán has composed two more operas since Florencia, and I'd love to hear them too. And the rest of his music. The Naxos disk includes the finale from a piece for soprano, chorus, and orchestra called Obsidian Butterfly.
