I just sent in my Hugo nominations at more or less the last minute. You have to be a member of either the upcoming or previous Worldcon in order to nominate, so I don't suppose there's any reason for me to exhort people in general to nominate. If you're eligible to nominate, you should have figured out whether you wanted to by now or not.

However, today is also the last day to vote in the 2010 FAAn Awards. Once again, you can download the PDF of the ballot at the Corflu homepage (maintained by the goddess-like hapless web lackey, Tracy Benton), and it will tell you how to submit a ballot via e-mail. You have until midnight tonight. If you read fanzines, please vote!

Also, you still have a couple of weeks to vote in the DUFF race. The online ballot includes a variety of options for how to submit your vote. I nominated John Hertz for DUFF this year, and I urge you to vote for him. John's accomplishments in fandom are pretty well-known, but I'll just stress that he is one of our best bridge-builders and diplomats. His interests include Regency dancing and masquerades as well as fanzines and conventions. He's even capable of discussing classic SF with the best of 'em. Australians would find him a fascinating guest, and North Americans (and other interested parties) would get a superb trip report out of the deal, as well as a competent and energetic administrator and promoter of the fund. He don't wanna hurt no kangaroo neither. Deadline for voting is 31 March, but please vote sooner than later.

"Political Science" reference! Now I have it going through my head, but at least it's a pleasant tune.

I once calmed my crying niece with that song. She was probably two at the time. She particularly enjoyed, "Boom goes London, and boom Pa-ree," of course. It's always been a favorite of mine.

More room for you and more for me.

Readers in Australasia and Europe may be pleased to hear that they still have three weeks to vote in the GUFF race, to send either [livejournal.com profile] lostcarpark or myself to New Zealand and Australia in August and September. Copies of the ballot were in the recently-mailed PR for the 2010 Worldcon in Melbourne.

Hey Snotnose was asking last night - what Americans ARE actually coming to Corflu? I'm guessing a lot of the A's are not really coming given the economy?

Well, I don't know if the strike is going to change anybody's plans, but I know that Jerry and Suzle will be there. Don't think anybody else from Seattle is going. Art Widner, Tracy Benton and Bill Bodden (I think), Earl Kemp, Frank Lunney, Ted, not sure about Tom and Spike, or Rich Coad for that matter. Yeah, I guess I'm really not sure what the Yank roll call is.

I got the impression that they have more members than they were expecting, so there must be lots of Brits going.

I was wrong (he said, after the pubmeet): other Seattlites going to Corflu include Mary Kay Kare, Elinor Busby, and Linda Denerof. But John D. Berry reiterated that he won't be going.
