I have taken the day off to gird my loins for Worldcon. I've printed tickets and reservations, but I still need to make shuttle reservations. Print manuscripts I want to discuss with people at the convention. (I'm not really an editor, I just play one in fandom.) Add R. Twidner to my room reservation. Gather a few copies of Chunga for random distribution. Figure out the current byzantine rules of airport security. (Am I correct that we have to have ourselves freeze-dried so as not to carry any liquid onboard? Ah yes, must get a gel-filled bra. But where?) What else am I forgetting?

As the con has gotten closer, I've been wrestling with the feeling that Interaction last year was such an incredible peak experience that this year is bound to be disappointing. At this point I'm expecting to have such a crappy, miserable time that it can't help but be better than expectations. We'll see if my self-reverse-psychology works!

I'm not on any panels, but I plan to help out with the fan fund table in the Fan Lounge and with the fan fund auction and with the TAFF party and who knows what else. I haven't figured out the schedule at all. I trust I can figure it out on the fly.

Remind me what I'm forgetting!

Remind me what I'm forgetting!

Prescription medications? Hand lotion? Travel alarm clock? Reticule and fan? Loud Hawaiian shirt? Gold lame ballet slippers? The Alamo? Sparkly dress? The Maine? Coupla good paperbacks? Tippecanoe and Tyler too? Cell phone, pda, iPod, and laptop? Lip balm? Tooth brush? Curling iron?

Dunno. Most of the stuff I wind up regretting not having, you don't have in the first place...

Yes, the gold lame slippers and curling iron should make a excellent ensemble for the TAFF party. Thanks!

Yeah, this happens to me alla time. But, also sent to your e-mail, here's an improved-for-usability grid for Worldcon programming, in case you do want to look at what happens before it happens: improved grid

Muchos gracias. The problem I have with the Worldcon schedule is that there's just too damned much of it. It gets to the point where "life's too short" becomes my motto, followed quickly by "where's the bar?"

A camera, so we can see pictures of you in a sparkly dress and gold ballet slippers!

Give our best to Art!

I'll get a digital camera one of these days, but in the meantime we'll have to rely on others for pictures of gold ballet bikinis and dressy dinner snorkels.
