Were you at the zine fest? (I'll check your blog.) I hope you had better luck with traffic than I did. Seattle-Olympia was hell in both directions.

Yup, zine symposium. And we took Amtrak -- we got no car!

I think I'm going to be doing more of that Amtrak thing when my parents move back to Portland next year.

It's really convenient. About as fast as driving, especially factoring in traffic. Downtown Portland is fairly walkable, and when it's not the transit is pretty good. And i *think* the U-PASS gives a discount on Amtrak Cascades -- tho' when i still had U-PASS i think summer weekends were, irritatingly, a blackout period on the discount.

Plus the Portland train station is in the middle of many fine brewpubs.

My parents will be living in the Pearl District, so it should all be very convenient. Thanks for the tip on the U-PASS. I'll look into that.
