Arriving around noon on Wednesday, departing sometime on Sunday. I have to be at the WOOF collation at noon on Saturday, but I think that's about my only commitment.

It feels like Worldcon has already been going on for a while. I've been doing fannish social stuff every night since the TAFF delegate arrived on Wednesday. Over the weekend I also started printing things -- my WOOF zine ("The Worst Idea Bruce Pelz Ever Had"), Stu Shiffman's cover for WOOF, John Coxon's WOOF zine (The Man with Two Fezzes), and finally, at long last, my report about last November's travels, Alternative Pants. I will be busy printing tonight as well, and packing and getting a few last minute chores taken care of before hitting the road to Reno tomorrow. Hopefully Andy H will be stopping by with his WOOF contribution at some point. WOOF is coming along nicely, with ten titles in the ToC already.

Facebook is alight with people announcing their departures for or arrivals at Reno. I'm looking forward to seeing many friends there. Meanwhile I'll be printing and stapling and trying to remember what I'm forgetting to pack. Cellphone charger cord, check. Camera and battery recharger, check. Official Organ for WOOF on thumb drive, check. Deodorant, check. Alternative Pants, check. Alternative pants, check. Head ... um, now where did I put it? It was around here just a minute ago.

I am reminded that generally speaking my clothing needs for a convention are quite... er... "light"

And I'm reminded that I was handed a tweed jacket at the party that I'm supposed to bring along for you.

I hope you have a great time and I look forward to hearing about it. I bet you'll even discover some hidden beer treasures in Reno.

The bar next to the fanzine lounge is apparently being run by a local microbrewery, so I'm looking forward to that.

Any change they'll have single malt scotch also?

That I couldn't tell you, but I can tell you that there's supposed to be some information about the place on the convention website somewhere.

It's probably too late now, but I'm going to have a zine in WOOF: Dean Gahlon, Tales From The Frozen North, 2 pages (1 sheet), white paper.

It's not too late at all, Dean. I'll put you in the ToC tonight. Thanks!

For anybody else following along here, I will be able to make changes to the ToC at the convention, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] katster, at least up until I have the thing printed Friday night.

I just took Jerry and Suzle to the airport. On the way, I commented that this is the worldcon I've known the most about in thirty years. Then we reminisced about the weather at the worldcon thirty-three years ago, which was hotter than the weather is expected to be at this worldcon.

I'm so middle-aged, even my memories are middle-aged. Have a good time, you and your pants.

Yes, somehow this convention has hit closer to home than even the California conventions in the past three decades. It's true that with temperatures in the 90s, Renovation will be cooler than Iggy. Thank goodness!

I hope you've got Yipe on that list... I'm about to start the print run. It came out 6 sheets -- I hope that's still ok!

Yep, Yipe was already in the ToC, although I need to adjust the page count now. The more the merrier, whether it be pages or contributors. You are now ahead in page count. The Fishlifters and the TAFF delegate both turned in zines of 10 pages.

What are Alternative pants? I'm trying to picture in my mind "Alternative" pants.

It is perhaps a formal term for back-up pants. A second pair. An alternative to the first pair. Perhaps a band called Alternative Pants would play alternative music.

So maybe I will be able to find you if I search for the Alternative Music I hear while wandering the halls, assuming you are wearing your Alternative Pants? Bicyclists may wear Alternative Bands around their Alternative Pants while bicycling. . . or not.
