Brave new symphony?

In news that inevitably stirs my jaded interest, I see that the new conductor of the Seattle Symphony, Ludovic Morlot, programmed a piece by Frank Zappa to go along with pieces by Dutilleux and Beethoven. Go, new guy!

Zappa was a serious composer. And I'd much rather hear a piece by him than by Dutilleux, again.

Oh yes, I have some of Zappa's orchestral music, and some of my favorite parts of 200 Motels are orchestral movements. The reviewer clearly didn't think much of the Dutilleux piece either.
