Good day yesterday. Did some editorial work for Chunga in the morning, then took advantage of the unexpectedly glorious weather to apply primer to the back of the house. (It's raining this morning, so I'm glad I got the bare wood covered.) Then it was off to a lovely gathering at the house of [livejournal.com profile] janeehawkins, [livejournal.com profile] baldanders, and [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes. I met [livejournal.com profile] baldanders' parents and brother and brother's family. Denys and Vonda and Jerry and Suzle and John were there. There were growlers of Cascade IPA and Big Time SMASH (Single Malt And Single Hop). The house is even more full of books and CDs than normal. (An impressive collection of CDs!) I was tired from painting, but it was fun to hang out with folks. Afterward I watched the second half of Bardelys the Magnificent -- a silly, stylish silent swashbuckler based on a Rafael Sabatini novel, with John Gilbert in Douglas Fairbanks mode and looking unnervingly like Robert Downey Jr.

Nice day, with another nice one ahead. More editorial work, household chores, the pubmeet, and some kind of movie. One thing I forgot to do yesterday was to swing by [livejournal.com profile] kate_schaefer's house while I was in that neck of the woods to grab some of the iris bulbs that are descendants of bulbs she got from Joanna Russ. This actually connects to the editorial work too. No doubt I'll be writing about those bulbs for Chunga, as Kate already has.

The DVD is from a small label out of Portland called Flicker Alley. I got mine via Netflix, and in fact I got two different copies from them, because the first one was defective. The film is in pretty good shape, although there's a short section in the middle that's still lost and is reconstructed on the DVD using stills.

Thanks! I never thought to look at Netflix. Will put in queue at top.

Well, you know, we're getting pretty close to the year-point. Got recent BW in the mail, thanks!
