I had a nightmare last night for the first time in yoinks -- the kind that left me paralyzed with fear and practically screaming out loud as I woke up. The dream had been completely fine up until it went bad. I was hanging out with my parents. My mom and I went into a house, and suddenly a look of absolute terror and hopeless despair entered her eyes. There was an utterly malevolent spirit behind me where I couldn't see it but she could, and it was taking form out of the void to do us harm.

The only reason I note this dream is that it has left me feeling poisoned this morning. I feel vaguely sick from it. Now maybe the causality actually runs in the other direction, and my feeling of physical sickness is what caused the nightmare. But I could feel waves of fear passing through my body for a half hour after I woke from the nightmare. I can still feel it in my muscles and in my guts. The fear of a malevolent monstrosity. I think the last time I felt this way, actually, was after I saw No Country for Old Men four of five years ago.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Nightmares really can leave an emotional hangover.

Not just emotional but physical too. I'm still feeling it. I'm not sure what causes the physical effects. Was it a powerful rush of adrenaline from the fear? Very strange.

Yes, the aftermath of adrenaline rush can certainly cause such physical effects.

So glad such nightmares are rare for you. Here's to comfort, and restful sleep ahead.

Thanks. It feels as though only rebooting with good sleep is really going to make me feel better, although beer is currently helping to take the edge off. Adrenaline poisoning sucks!

The trailer looks pretty terrifying, it's true.
