Well, it looks as though I'll be going to Novacon again this year.

Let me be the first to say wahooo! And so on.

Although I expect you've gotten a fair amount of that already from the people you'll be visiting.

And I look forward to your zine about said exploits. ;>

I'm doubtful that I'll do a big trip report again, but I'm actually thinking about writing my TAFF report now. We'll see.

I'm ever so glad to see you (and anyone else) doing it while you can. And yes, I "regret almost none of the things I did, but most of the things I didn't do". Mind you, I think you'd be well-advised to spend at least a few days completely free of fans & fandom, maybe investigating the Fabric of a Cathedral, or the cottage-gardens of a village so small that it has only two churches and three pubs. (And hey, there might be Bonus Points for a church that's Anglican but dates back to both the older (Roman), even older (Celtic catholic), and Much Older (The Green Man, in a carving on the Chapter-house, which is outside the technical Precincts of the Consecrated area, so it's really okay).

Yes, doing it while I can was on my mind too. I love your suggestions for matter to investigate, although my current plan does not include any time in the absence of fans. But I'll be getting to Belgium and Cornwall before and after the convention respectively.

Excellent news!

Alas (though it's wonderful timing for me), SFContario is the same weekend as Novacon this year, so I can't suggest a repeat of the Alternative Pants triptik in terms of your return to North America.

Next year in Portland? Hope so.

Oh yes, Portland next year. We all need to be in Portland next year.

Novacon?

You stinker. I am so frigging jealous.

Even so, have fun over there, Randy.

Wait, does that mean the Twins beat the M's today? I haven't seen a score!

Dude. Maybe we'll actually see each other this time!

If you're definitely committed coming: you do realise anything I said to you about not putting you on any embarrassing, scary or actually harmful programme items were lies.

If you're just expressing a general desire to attend: may I assure you that nothing untoward will happen to you for the whole weekend.

Oh all right. It'll be cool. With you there - it'll be even cooler.

I'll buy you a pint if you promise not to humiliate me.

I think you're asking too much of Mr Hicks there

At this rate I may have to show up at the convention incognito.

I'm actually more concerned that about finding some time to sit and talk with you this year. Since it's a "regular" Novacon, and not the anniversary when almost every SF author in the UK showed up and I was putting the programme together on the run, I may be a (little more) relaxed.

I would also contend - and am happy to produce examples 1 to 147 as evidence - that the only person I routinely humiliate on the Novacon stage is myself.

Are you on the committee at all this year?
