The_Christmas_AtticI'm not a particularly big Xmas guy, but I do like some of the music. A few years ago [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan gave me the CD of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's The Christmas Attic, which is a rock opera that cycles through an ecumenical mythology about Christmas and the New Year using fragments of traditional hymns and carols and classical music modulated into various musical styles and pumped up with Queen-ish heavy-metal prog-rock riffs. A strange confection that defamiliarizes the season very effectively. Xmas power ballads!

I see from Wikipedia that this was the second of a trilogy of albums about Christmas by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Gotta check out the other two as well. (And I've now downloaded the other two.) Thanks, Geri, as always -- and Merry Xmas to you all!

С Рождеством (S RozhdestvOm)! or Счастливого Рождества (ShchastlIvovo RozhdestvA)! But we celebrate ours on JAnuary 7th, and I'm not an Orthodox Christian.

Ah, right, I'd forgotten that. Thanks, and merry Christmas to you! (I'm not actually a Christian at all, except by upbringing.)

Hope you're having a merry one! Denys and I spend the evening at Luke and Julie's, and now I'm listening to the last of The Lost Christmas Eve (third in the trilogy).
