Date: 2012-07-05 12:57 am (UTC)Westercon has never been a convention close to my heart, but I'm not sure why not. When I first came into fandom, I went to most of the ones that were held in the Northwest, but I think I've only been to one outside my home region -- 1987 in Oakland, which was a memorable trip for me, although not necessarily because of the convention. I'm actually thinking of going to the one in Sacramento next year because of who's running it.
Anyway, I haven't even been keeping up with Northwest Westercons lately, but I was asked to help out with the London in 2014 party this year. Now I'm looking forward to it in a way I hadn't anticipated. We'll see how it goes.
